Site-specific installation composed of wood and video projection depicting the classroom environment of the school experience in China (2019). The wood structure creates a miniature classroom presenting a video diorama with blurred and abstracted characters, thus marking the likes of the Chinese academic indoctrination system as if sedated by repetitive presentation. The ensemble creates a poetic narrative depicting an isolated learning experience.

Tianlan Deng
Born in Shanghai, Tianlan Deng holds an MFA in Architecture and Interior Design from The Pratt Institute, NYC. His work involves interdisciplinary practices including text-based installation, projected video media, architectural design and traditional Asian painting. Moving to the USA after 20 years growing under Chinese school educational system, Tianlan Deng has built a strong interest in institutional topics and architectural spatial design, with a focus on public school and progressive education. His master thesis is a design project cooperation with Rockaway Park High School at Beach Channel Educational Campus, NYC to creates art installations with projected media while improving the school’s prison-like interior atmosphere, offering an alternative learning experience and promoting students recruiting. Using miniature diorama, light, shadow, and video, Tianlan creates immersive experiences to unveil hidden similarities between current Chinese and American education and their political agendas. Tianlan Deng was the grand winning commissioned artist by Gatton College of Business and Economics (KY), for its Atrium Glass Wall Design in 2016 which features in its permanent collection. Other commissions involves The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center (KY), Fairmont Pace Hotel (PRC), and Tianjin Crowne Plaza (PRC). Tianlan’s works are exhibited internationally in the USA, Europe and China.

中国での学校体験の教室環境を描いた木とビデオプロジェクションで構成されるサイトスペシフィックインスタレーション（2019）。木の構造は、ぼやけた抽象的な文字でビデオジオラマを提示するミニチュア教室を作成し、したがって、繰り返しの提示によって鎮静化されているかのように、中国の学術教化システムのようなものをマークします。アンサンブルは、孤立した学習体験を描いた詩的な物語を作成します。

Tianlan Deng
上海で生まれたTianlanDengは、ニューヨークのプラットインスティテュートで建築とインテリアデザインのMFAを取得しています。彼の作品には、テキストベースのインスタレーション、投影されたビデオメディア、建築デザイン、伝統的なアジアの絵画など、学際的な実践が含まれています。 Tianlan Dengは、中国の学校教育システムの下で20年間成長した後、米国に移住し、公立学校と進歩主義教育を中心に、制度的トピックと建築空間デザインに強い関心を築いてきました。彼の修士論文は、ニューヨークのビーチチャンネル教育キャンパスにあるロックアウェイパーク高校とのデザインプロジェクトの協力であり、学校の刑務所のようなインテリアの雰囲気を改善し、代替の学習体験を提供し、学生の募集を促進しながら、投影されたメディアでアートインスタレーションを作成します。ミニチュアジオラマ、光、影、ビデオを使用して、Tianlanは没入型の体験を作成し、現在の中国とアメリカの教育とその政治的課題の間に隠された類似点を明らかにします。 Tianlan Dengは、2016年に恒久的なコレクションに登場するAtrium Glass Wall Designで、Gatton College of Business and Economics（KY）から大賞を受賞した委託アーティストでした。その他の委員会には、リリックシアター＆カルチュラルアーツセンター（KY）、フェアモントペースホテル（PRC）、天津クラウンプラザ（PRC）が含まれます。 Tianlanの作品は、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、中国で国際的に展示されています。
