The Aral Sea

In the beginning of 2020 I was strongly influenced by the “Overview Effect”; a state of mental clarity, and a cognitive shift in awareness, reported by some astronauts during spaceflight when viewing Earth from above. Employing alchemical techniques with enamel, latex, I abstracted aerial imagery garnered from Google Earth and NASA, and introduced a new alchemical component to achieve deep cracks, crevasses, and crazing in the paint.
