Painting with watercolors, on-site and in the moment is essential to my process. I am frequently attracted to structures that offer me a chance to study complex planes or interesting color combinations. I especially enjoy when I get the chance to paint flora and man-made structures playing against each other.
I fell in love with watercolor on paper as a means to capture a moment in time and a place in a very direct, deeply personal and immediate way. Working with pastels or pen and ink are other ways that I use to document my surroundings.
