I received my BFA from UNCG in North Carolina and an MFA in painting from Claremont University in California. Upon graduating I worked as an Artist in Residence at several community colleges sponsored by the N.C. Arts Council. In 1976, I moved to New York where I further developed my career as a painter while working for a number of art venues including The Drawing Center, The American Crafts Museum, The Heller Gallery. In 1983 I joined the staff of Evergreene Architectural Arts where I later became Director of Decorative Painting. Since 2015 when I retired from this full time position, I have devoted myself to RobRoi Design, my studio in Brooklyn where painting and ceramics are my full time occupation.

Robin Roiはノースカロライナ州のUNCGでBFAを、カリフォルニア州のクレアモント大学で絵画のMFAを受け取りました。卒業後、ノースカロライナ州へ。アーツカウンシルが主催するいくつかのコミュニティカレッジでアーティストインレジデンスとして働きいたのち、1976年にニューヨークに移り、ドローイングセンター、アメリカンクラフトミュージアム、ヘラーギャラリーなど、数多くのアートスペースで働きながら、画家としてのキャリアをさらに発展させました。 1983年にEvergreene Architectural Artsのスタッフに加わり、後に装飾画のディレクターを務めました。 2015年にこのフルタイムの職を辞めて以来、私はブルックリンにある私のスタジオであるRobRoi Designに専念してきました。そこでは、絵画と陶芸が彼のフルタイムの仕事です。
