Wazen was born in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture. After graduating from Niigata University with a degree in calligraphy from the Faculty of Education, he worked as a designer and illustrator for a Tokyo publishing company before returning to Iida City, Nagano Prefecture in 2020. He is currently creating works that combine illustration and calligraphy.
