Like the striations of an abraded cliff face, these paintings evoke a sense of resistance. They are a visceral response to the many challenges that we are facing in the world today. The accumulated gestural marks reflect a rigorous engagement with form where nothing appears in stasis and the repeated overlaying of shapes, lines and textures create a bulwark against direct association.
