David Mramor
Face, 2024, acrylic, oil, inkjet on linen, 32 x 26 inches
Using an image of myself in full makeup I was looking to highlight the eyes, nostrils, and mouth. This is a photo image printed directly onto the linen. It moves forward and descends against the flat surface. The decorative use of a stencil creates a rhythm directly pulled from metal plates used throughout NYC.
Forest, 2024, acrylic, oil, inkjet on linen, 24 x 18 inches
This is an image painted over a photograph taken in Montana after a forest fire. Burnt trees turn to charcoal and become formal elements of the scene against a touch of blue sky. Using a stencil to mimic the metal plate pattern commonly seen throughout NYC the landscape becomes covered in a decorative pattern.
