◆Founding Story Avoir was founded based on Nakamura’s own breast cancer experiences.
Choices at conventional bra shops were limited, with little attention to functionality/appearance.
Disheartened, she decided to create bras to help others in similar situations.
Post-surgery breasts vary by person. Incorporating the opinions of medical workers and patients,
she began producing/selling functional, fashionable, and mood-lightening products.
◆Patented in Japan/USA Patients wanted post-reconstruction bras that addressed asymmetricality.
Emerita was developed with the help of breast reconstruction pioneer Meisei Takeishi, women healthcare workers,
and 40 patients. Emerita is adjustable with different removable wires and two types of pads.
It’s a patented product that Avoir confidently recommends.
◆起業の経緯
アボワールは、中村代表自身が乳がんを経験したことをきっかけにスタートしました。
これまでも乳がん用ブラジャーを販売しているショップはありましたが、商品の選択肢はほとんどなく、
機能性や見た目などに配慮したものはありませんでした。 それらの下着を見て落胆し、
「以前のような綺麗でかわいいブラジャーを身に着けたい」「私と同じ悩みを持っている人達がたくさんいるに違いない。
その方たちの役に立ちたい」と強く思い、世の中にないなら自分で作ろうと奮起したのが始まりです。
手術後のバストは、人それぞれ千差万別です。 医療者と乳がん患者の意見を取り入れながら、
術後すぐに必要となる前開きブラジャーをはじめ機能的で見た目にもお洒落で気分が明るくなるブラジャーの開発・販売を始めました。
◆日米で特許取得のプロダクト 開発を進めていくうちに「乳房再建後に使えるブラジャーがない」という声を患者さんから聞くようになりました。
乳房再建後の患者の最大の悩みは「乳房の左右差が揃わない」「アンダーバストの位置が揃わない」ということ。
乳房再建患者が納得して使え、さらにその後も長く活用できるブラジャーを作りたいとの思いから、
形成外科医武石明精医師と女性医療従事者と乳房再建患者40名の協力のもと、
2年半をかけて乳房再建用のブラジャー「エメリタ」を共同開発しました。武石医師は、UCLAに留学、
自家組織移植による乳房再建の先駆者であるWilliam Shaw教授に直接指導を受け、自家組織とインプラント両方の乳房再建手術をし、
再建症例は1,000例を超える乳房再建手術の先駆者です。
エメリタは、長さやカーブの違うワイヤーを使ってアンダーバストの位置や胸の高さを調整できます。
ワイヤーを外して着用したり片側だけワイヤーを入れることも可能です。また乳房サイズが変わっても2種類のパッドを組み合わせて調整ができます。
