“This “”Mr. Ripley Shirt”” is a handmade shirt made by Andy, the owner and designer of the menswear brand “”Plein SOL””. His design, long working for classic American casual brands such as J Crew and Guess, also influenced his own brand, “”Plein SOL””. His Fall ’20 collection was based on the 1999’s American movie “”The Talented Mr. Ripley”” which shows the standard of American menswear. The designer completed a unique block pattern by making a total of 24 incisions horizontally and vertically. After that he showed the complexity of the movie character by using variety types of Textile. The main character of the movie is very complicated. Though timid, it may seem ridiculous and weird, as the film progresses, he shows a perfect transformation into a luxury gentleman. Shirt colors inspired by such a look were unified with Ecru, Off White and Ivory. The various appearances of the movie’s protagonist were expressed in fabrics of various textures, such as corduroy, light wool, and cotton twill.
