These photographic images of natural and manmade materials are of this world, but become their own. They are influenced by the pressing sociopolitical and environmental crises that abound in the USA and beyond. The work draws from media images and from medieval biblical illustrations of the Book of
Revelations. The processes of cyanotype making and coloring photographs are nods to the great artist and botanist, Anna Atkins, and also to the women who colored black and white photographs before color photography was invented. As a student of science and a practicing artist, integrating these two
works are important.
