These folklore goddesses are inspired by tales of water spirits. In my interpretation, they are divas, and their temperament and desires cause the weather phenomena and the drunken sailors falling overboard. I use all kinds of rescued and unlikely materials in my work. First, the paintings are crested on canvas by pouring layers of house paint for the texture and shape of each goddess. Then I use resin, patch compound, and residue from the bottom of paint thinner. There is beauty in each of these materials as they become trapped in layers of resin.
