Steve Ettlinger has been creating abstract sculpture of large cedar and spruce since 2013, primarily using chainsaws and extensive sanding. He is a semi-retired author of nine books, a former picture editor, and has renovated several very old houses.
He works on sculptures outdoors during pleasant weather on Deer Isle, an island just off the coast of Maine, and in Brooklyn during the rest of the year.
A 1971 graduate of Tufts University, he lived in Paris for six years, living in Brooklyn since 1984 and part time in Maine since 1997.
